Grey Market

The second re-iteration of Grey Market (2016) celebrates local stories, unique characters and the sense of community within Walthamstow Market.

Harlow will embed herself within the market in the run up to Art Night, working for free for market stallholders and within high-street shops, in return for recording the daily conversations. She will operate a market stall, swapping printed bag editions in return for market users recalling daily anecdotes and memories of the market.

These stories and interactions will inform a script, performed by Harlow and stallholders during Art Night. This live work brings the performativity of the market to the fore, taking place within a landscape of genuine produce and cast prop replicas at Ale Gratka, a Polish Deli on the high street.
