Paul Williams: Art and Life 1954-81
Paul Williams (1954-81) was a local Waltham Forest artist who studied at Walthamstow Art College, Chelsea College of Arts and Newham Community Murals, up to 1981 when he succumbed to leukemia. In celebration of William’s art and life, the artist’s childhood friend Malcolm Stow has curated an exhibition of his work, featuring multimedia, audio-visual pieces and abstract expressionist painting and collage inspired by the art of his time. All Paul’s works appear incomplete and fragmentary, yet, these experimental and mostly student pieces become endlessly varying, sometimes melancholic, angry, amusing and entertaining, in this exhibition Paul Williams’ Art and Life 1954-81.
Several unframed works are available for framing and voluntary contribution to Leukemia Research.
